People say that men have it easier than women. I say? It depends on which aspect in life are we talking about, but if it’s about fitness? Then that is a resounding yes.

I’ve encountered a lot of fitness professionals who are ILL-EQUIPPED in handling female clients. They create programs with the mindset that what works for men will automatically work for women as well and that could be farther from the truth. Time immemorial I’ve seen trainers make their FEMALE clients do bench presses, and for what purpose? Powerlifting? Sure, that’s fine. But anything else aside from that? Tricep development? Strict Presses are better for that, not to mention will help with the shoulder development too. Don’t get me started on the whole bench pressing will make their chest grow bigger myth. Even when it comes to nutrition, these professionals fail to account for the PMS and the menstruation cycles. Hormonal imbalances, PCOS, all require a different approach in terms of food intake.

These professionals also focus more on the scale weight changes more than the visual changes which to me is a load of BS. I always stressed on practicality and sustainability, hence I always emphasize on visual changes more than the numbers on the scale. As you can see, Lena only lost 4.6 lbs and yet if you are to look at her visual changes specifically on the mid section, it’s as if she lost more than that. Ultimately it’s all about the quality more than the quantity when it comes to weight loss.

60% of my clients are females and while a majority are under the weight loss program, I managed to train some for strength and weight gain too, all of which have progressed wonderfully. If you’ve hired a trainer or a nutritionist for the past couple of months and have yet to see any changes, chances are it’s high time to revisit your options.
