For Fernan, the belly started as a byproduct of social drinking, dinners and simply enjoying life.
Eventually, though, it became the norm.
And while he wanted to get rid of it, he didn’t really know where to start.
The thing about a “beer belly” is that it’s not necessarily about beer. Excess abdominal fat can accumulate when energy intake consistently exceeds the body’s needs, while alcohol can make it easier to consume excess calories. More importantly, waist circumference and visceral fat are associated with metabolic health risks.
For an athlete, carrying unnecessary body mass can also mean more work during movement.
Running, jumping, accelerating and changing direction all require the body to move and decelerate its own mass. That’s why body composition can matter for athletic performance, not simply because of how an athlete looks, but because of how they move and perform.
Fernan decided it was time to make a change.
Through our corporate wellness program, he made sustainable changes to his nutrition and saw a remarkable transformation in just one month.
His weight dropped, his beer belly disappeared, and his abs came back. More importantly, he felt lighter, moved better and continued to have the energy to do what he enjoys.
We’re always careful to emphasize that not every transformation happens in a month. Sustainable progress doesn’t have a universal deadline.
Fernan’s story simply shows what can happen when proper guidance, consistency and compliance come together.
And there were no shortcuts.
No drugs. No supplements. Just better nutrition.
Because the goal isn’t to punish yourself for enjoying life.
It’s to learn how to enjoy life without your lifestyle constantly working against your health.
Fernan was one of the participants in our recently concluded corporate wellness program. Unlike traditional “Biggest Loser” challenges that revolve almost entirely around weight loss, our approach is designed to make wellness engaging, practical and inclusive—even for people who aren’t trying to lose weight.
